Maximo Upgrade

Technology Associates’ methodology has been formulated based on our experience performing upgrades and our knowledge of the Maximo upgrade utility. Our team’s experience with upgrading Maximo is extensive and includes:

  • All versions and all technical configurations of Maximo
  • Consolidation of multiple databases
  • Data Migration
  • Configuration, tailoring, customization
  • Evaluation of new Maximo functiionality relative to a Customer’s requirements

We will utilize a unified system design and development process throughout the implementation. By developing the whole system, rather than individual components, interdependencies can be identified early and design conflicts avoided.

To support this methodology:

  • A development instance will be established early in the project and used as a continuous integration environment for all development activities
  • A release schedule is established based upon development milestones, where interim testing and user socialization can occur
  • Comprehensive testing is a normal part of the standard Technology Associates approach to upgrades
    • This activity includes unit, system, regression, and finally user acceptance testing.
  • Unit testing is conducted by the developer, typically on the local development instance. This allows the developer to ensure that an individual system function is operating correctly in isolation. Typically this testing is a continuous development activity and performed throughout the development life cycle.
  • The final technical testing is conducted with the whole system. This is sometimes referred to as end to end testing and establishes that the system technically functions correctly as a single unit.
  • Finally, user acceptance testing establishes that the end user requirements have been met and that system success criteria have been achieved. This is
the final test before the system is deployed to production and is conducted immediately following user training.
  • Having successfully completed all testing, the system will be migrated to a production instance. Migration will occur prior to the cut-over period. Once all system configurations and data have been migrated to the production instance, the business process improvements will be enacted and the system opened for production use.
